Paint Calculator

How much paint do you need? Enter the room size and number of coats — get gallons for walls and ceiling, based on 350 sq ft per gallon.

12×12 room = 48 ft

Paint needed
3 gallons
Walls: 2 gal · Ceiling: 1 gal · 2-coat coverage @ 350 sq ft/gal
Wall area after openings: 349 sq ft

How It Works

Net wall area = perimeter × height − doors (20 sq ft) − windows (15 sq ft). Divide by 350 sq ft per gallon and multiply by the number of coats. Ceiling is calculated separately.

Calculation Explanation

Example: 12×12 room, 8-ft walls, 1 door, 1 window, 2 coats → (384 − 35) ÷ 350 × 2 = 2.0 gallons for walls + 144 ÷ 350 × 2 ≈ 1 gallon for the ceiling.
